We were approached by a family excited at the prospect of just purchasing a cottage style terraced property in Howden to use as a holiday let in the heart of the market town. The family are in the building trade so required a supply only sale.

Imagine a traditional, cobbled street nestled within the grounds of the majestic Howden Minster and surrounded by quirky independent retailers – a buzzing Italian restaurant, chilled out wine bars, and a greengrocers just how they used to be back in the day, the location couldn’t be more perfect.

Repeat customer

Having already worked together earlier in the year on designing a traditional, farmhouse style dining kitchen for the family home, we had developed a trusted working relationship which already set us off to a great start.

Airbnb kitchen goals

The goal was to transform a boring kitchen into an inviting homely stay. It needed to be functional and cost effective but to look inviting.

To achieve a light, welcoming space we decided on using Second Nature Kitchens Belsay Beaded Range in Cashmere, a neutral, timeless shade. A great quality and in-budget kitchen door, the carcasses are as always from our local manufacturers Custom Kitchens – bespoke and incredibly durable.

The sink and tap continued the traditional style using a Belfast sink which all came together beautifully with the Quartz worksurface, looking luxurious whilst easy to keep clean. Appliances chosen were mid-range, needing them to be reliable and easy to use.

A finishing touch

The final piece in the room was sourced by the owner Charley, a sunny looking pink fridge freezer – a welcoming smile to all who entered the holiday home!

The finished look came together perfectly and is a little gem for anyone visiting Howden.
